GAME DESIGN
Daily mini-challenges
Each day of the campaign, a new mini-challenge was unlocked, creating anticipation and sustained engagement among participants.
Every mini-challenge was aligned with the daily theme, such as Geography, Heritage and Traditions, Art and Culture, Economy, and Sport. This thematic approach helped participants deepen their understanding of each aspect of African culture in a fun and engaging way.
Game mechanics
Every mini-challenge featured 3 online games, using 3 game mechanics :
Drag and drop
These games involved matching elements related to the daily theme tto the right country on the map.
For example : match the instruments of music or the emblematic dishes or cities with the right country on the map.
This mechanic is particularly effective in reinforcing knowledge about each african country.
Speed game
These games required players to respond quickly to challenges, fostering quick thinking and reflexes.
Typically, these would involve selecting traditional clothes only among many modern clothing styles, painting the flags with the right colors or Identifying the correct country using the fewest number of hints while under time pressure. These games add a lively and competitive element to the learning experience.
Quizz
Traditional quiz games tested knowledge and provided instant feedback.
Multiple choice questions cover facts and trivia related to the day’s theme.
Quizzes are excellent for assessing knowledge retention and providing educational reinforcement.
Communication and engagement strategy
A comprehensive communication plan was implemented to ensure maximum participation and engagement throughout the week.
Pre launch awareness
Emails and internal newsletters were sent out prior to the launch of the challenge, outlining the schedule and the objectives of the campaign. This helped build anticipation and informed employees about what to expect.
Daily updates
During the campaign week, daily updates were shared through the company’s internal communication channels. These updates highlighted specific games, shared interesting facts about African cultures, and featured leaderboard updates to encourage a competitive yet friendly atmosphere.
Feedback
Employees were encouraged to provide feedback on games. This feedback was used to gauge the effectiveness of the campaign and to make adjustments in real-time to improve engagement.
Backend platforme and reporting
Real time data tracking
A backend system was designed to capture and analyze real-time data from game interactions.
This allowed the campaign managers to monitor and track player information, top players by country and by stage, overall scores by country and by stage, adavanced filtering options ( by country, by office), and adjust internal communication actions accordingly.
